The team at the Office of Civic Engagement includes Zoé Otero Martinez, Rachael Hernandez, and Mariah Harrison. With extensive professional experience in Albuquerque, they possess an in-depth understanding of organizing in our diverse community. Complementing their expertise, the office is supported by dedicated AmeriCorps VISTA members committed to combating poverty and enhancing capacity across the city.
Mission
To foster civic engagement among Albuquerque residents by cultivating meaningful volunteer opportunities, enhancing accessibility to city governance, and empowering individuals to actively shape decisions impacting their lives. Through collaboration and encouragement, we aim to amplify civic energy, enabling residents to recognize and leverage their collective power in meaningful participation.
Vision
United in purpose, we envision Albuquerque as a beacon of safety, inclusivity, and innovation, where every individual feels empowered to contribute to a thriving community. By nurturing relationships, investing in personal growth, and embracing our interconnectedness with others and the planet, we aspire to create a city where the act of citizenship is revered, and collective action drives positive change. We understand that our impact extends beyond ourselves; therefore, we strive to build a community where every voice is valued, and every citizen is equipped to make a difference.
