ABQ RIDE offers specialized Travel Training for a variety of citizens who need assistance in utilizing local public transportation services.
Travel training is implemented to train and educate the public about transportation alternatives other than single-vehicle occupancy use. These options include carpooling, walking, train, bicycling, and of course, riding the bus.
Kids in Motion
Kids in Motion: A hands-on educational program and travel training geared at teaching children K-12 about transportation and its effects on the environment, as well as the economic benefits of using public transit.
This training can be held at any school in the City, in any classroom at the teacher's convenience. We also provide tours of the ABQ RIDE transit facilities and provide hands-on training geared to teach where to buy bus passes, how to ride the bus, bus etiquette and behavior, and how alternative transportation positively affects the environment and the economy.
Mobility Independence
Mobility Impaired, Senior Citizens and Community Groups: An educational program and travel training geared at teaching these citizens about public transportation options and how using ABQ RIDE can provide travel independence at affordable prices.
This training can be held at any senior citizen center, community center, assisted living facility, or any of ABQ RIDE's transit facilities.
We train these individuals on how to board and disembark from the bus, how to plan a trip to and from a specific location, boarding and bus riding for mobility challenged, visually challenged, or hearing challenged individuals, and our paratransit (Sun Van) services. We also discuss how alternative transportation positively affects the environment and the economic landscape.
