Safety and Security Reporting
Comprehensive Transit Safety Data NOW Available
As of April 2024, streamlined transit safety and security data is available from the Albuquerque Police Department (APD), Albuquerque Community Safety (ACS), and Metro Security to include call volume and incident reporting to document and better understand the challenges facing Albuquerque's transit system.
In 2025, ABQ RIDE plans to implement the Albuquerque Long-Range Transit Security Plan prepared by Parametrix, which proposes changes the structure of transit safety to improve long-term safety outcomes for the community. In accordance with this Plan, there will be a new Transit Safety Division with a dedicated data specialist to ensure accessible, accurate, and comprehensive transit safety data is available.
Prior to the spring of 2024, transit safety data is fragmented due to several iterations of safety partnerships. Metro Security joined ABQ RIDE as a safety partner in 2022 and APD came on board in 2023. Albuquerque Community Safety, Albuquerque Fire Rescue, and contracted safety ambassadors also contribute to transit safety.
Metro Security Data can be found on ABQ RIDE's data dashboard dating back to January of 2022. APD reporting is not available prior to the streamlined reporting which began in the spring of 2024. Other safety data can be found in the Zero Fares Pilot Program reporting below from January 2022 - March of 2023, which was used to help determine the longevity of the now permanent program.
