New Mexico United Soccer Takes to Albuquerque's Streets
Today, the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) announced a new look for several of their waste collection trucks. Five trucks will each feature a different New Mexico United soccer player. New Mexico United is making history as the first professional USL soccer team in the State, and all of Albuquerque is feeling the excitement as their inaugural season approaches.
“We are out every day, in every corner of the city, creating a clean and sustainable future and engaging residents and businesses on waste reduction and recycling best practices,” stated Matthew Whelan, Director of the Solid Waste Management Department. “So it makes perfect sense to use our highly-visible trucks to promote a team that captures the hope and optimism we feel for Albuquerque’s future.”
The New Mexico United branded SWMD trucks can already be seen throughout the city on their collection routes. The five players featured on the trucks are:
● David Estrada, Midfielder #19
● Josh Suggs, Defender #5
● Juan Pablo Guzman, Midfielder #8
● Kevaughn Frater, Forward #10
● Sam Hamilton, Defender #4
“We are proud to be an agent of change in our state, and working with One Albuquerque on this project is an easy and organic way for us to show off the hardest workers in our community,” said New Mexico United Owner and CEO Peter Trevisani. “We are proud of our hardworking Solid Waste Department drivers, and felt that matching them with our hard working players was a natural choice. Heroes come in all professions.”
New Mexico United’s inaugural 2019 season begins on Saturday, March 9th at Isotopes Park at 7:30pm. Get tickets and more information at www.newmexicoutd.com/tickets.
