Fitness Center Renamed in Honor of Beloved Volunteer
Today, Mayor Tim Keller joined the Department of Senior Affairs to celebrate the renaming of North Domingo Baca Fitness Center in honor of beloved volunteer, Ken Baugh. This renaming project is part of the larger ABQ Stories of Us initiative that recognizes real-world heroes who have made significant contributions to the community.
“Our ‘Stories of Us’ program allows us to shine a light on folks whose lives have made a lasting impact on Albuquerque,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “The brand of selfless service embodied by Ken Baugh is the cornerstone of a compassionate and thriving city.”
Ken Baugh has been a volunteer at the North Domingo Baca Fitness Center front desk for over 10 years, seven hours a day, Monday through Friday. Even at the age of 94, Ken still makes it a priority to stay active, and is known for greeting everyone at the center with a smile and a thumbs up.
“Volunteers like Ken are lifeblood of so much of what we do here at the Department of Senior Affairs,” said Anna Sanchez, Director. “We are incredibly grateful to have him as part of our North Domingo Baca Fitness Center family.”
