Annual event offers digital tools, hands-on learning, and tech guidance
April 11, 2025

Today, more than 300 people gathered at North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center for the annual 50+ Senior Tech Connect Fair, a free event designed to help older adults navigate the digital world with confidence.

Hosted by the City of Albuquerque’s Department of Senior Affairs in partnership with local nonprofit Adelante DiverseIT, the fair featured nearly 30 vendor booths, hands-on demonstrations, and free tech coaching covering topics such as online shopping, Bluetooth devices, and AI.

“As more of our daily lives move online, it’s important we make sure no one gets left behind,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This event is about giving folks the tools and know-how to stay safe and connected in an increasingly digital world.”

With technology playing a growing role in everything from finances to healthcare, the Department of Senior Affairs created this event to improve digital access and enhance the quality of life for Albuquerque’s older adults.

"This event is great for seniors because there are a lot of us who are unsure when it comes to technology," said attendee Veronica Hurlbirt. "I learned about hearing aids and how phones are helping families to communicate better, and that's a wonderful thing."

In addition to gaining valuable tech skills, attendees enjoyed refreshments, socializing, and prizes.
