Arrest Duran's
January 10, 2024

ALBUQUERQUE – APD arrested Jonathan Olivas, 28, and Amanda Sheppard, 39, for the accidental shooting that injured a man at Duran’s Pharmacy on Sunday.

On Jan. 7, 2024, APD Valley Officers were dispatched to Duran’s Pharmacy located at 1815 Central for a shooting with injuries call where a male customer had been shot in the back of the head. The male victim was transported to a local hospital and had non-life threatening injuries.

APD officers issued an Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers request to help identify the two people leaving the scene of the shooting. Olivas and Sheppard turned themselves in to police today after learning they were wanted in connection to the shooting.

Olivas told detectives the firearm, a .22 caliber revolver, was inside Sheppard’s purse and when the purse dropped to the floor, he heard a “pop.” When he looked to the ground, he saw the firearm, picked it up and put it in his pocket before leaving the restaurant. Sheppard told detectives she did not know the firearm was in her purse because she does not typically carry the firearm. She said she does not have a concealed carry permit. Sheppard believed the loud “pop” she heard was a highchair hitting the floor.

Detectives secured arrest warrants for Sheppard and Olivas. Both are in custody.

  • Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm in a Licensed Liquor Establishment
  • Negligent use of a Firearm
  • Unlawful Carrying of a Deadly Weapon
  • Tampering with Evidence
