Suspects In Custody for Two 2018 Homicides

ALBUQUERQUE – Suspects are in custody after APD detectives recently secured indictments in two separate 2018 homicide cases.

The suspect in a 2018 homicide in Northeast Albuquerque was indicted by a Grand Jury for murdering Skyler Monday, 24, during an attempted narcotics robbery.
Hunter Matney, 17, is charged for fatally shooting Monday during the attempted robbery on July 28, 2018 at an apartment complex in Northeast Albuquerque.
Detectives continued to investigate the homicide, including interviews with witnesses and gathering evidence related to the case. A Grand Jury indicted Matney on Oct. 18, 2021, for several charges including First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder and Voluntary Manslaughter.

In a separate 2018 homicide case, APD detectives tracked the suspect to a location in Oakland, CA, where she was arrested on a warrant for the murder of 28-year-old Hilarie Humbles.
Latrice Thomas, 40, is accused of fatally shooting Humbles during an altercation in May 2018, at 308 Western Skies Dr., S.E.
Thomas was initially arrested for the murder in 2019, but she was later released when a witnessed failed to appear for pre-trial interviews. Detectives located another key witness in November 2020, and a new arrest warrant was approved for Thomas. Grand Jury indicted Thomas in July 2021 on charges of First Degree Murder and Receipt, Transportation or Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Device.
Thomas was recently arrested in Oakland, CA, and will be extradited to Albuquerque to face charges.
