UPDATE: Murder suspect dies by suicide

ALBUQUERQUE – The suspect accused of killing his ex-girlfriend on Sunday has died by suicide.
Julius Falero was discovered Tuesday with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene and Falero was determined to have died by suicide.
APD detectives were searching for Falero since he fled his home Sunday at 206 San Clemente Ave., N.W., where he was reportedly holding his ex-girlfriend against her will. Detectives believe Falero fatally shot his girlfriend, identified as Jazmin Lerma, 19, before he ran from police.
Falero’s body was found Tuesday in the area of 6900 block of Edith Blvd N.E. Deputies also found the phone he took from Lerma after he killed her. Falero’s next of kin was notified today.

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives are searching for 20-year-old Julian Falero, who is a suspect in the murder of his ex-girlfriend this morning in the North Valley.
Officers responded today at 7:30 a.m. to Falero’s home at 206 San Clemente Ave., N.W., where he was reportedly holding his ex-girlfriend against her will.
When officers arrived on scene, the suspect, believed to be Falero, discharged a firearm. An adult female was found deceased inside the residence with at least one gunshot wound.
Falero is described as standing 5’8”, weighing about 125 pounds with a dark complexion and brown hair. Falero had a doo rag on his head, no shirt and gray sweatpants as he fled his home this morning.
Falero is considered to be armed and dangerous. He has an active felony warrant for shooting another individual in 2022. Anyone with information about Falero’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 505-242-COPS, or Metro Crime Stoppers at 505-843-STOP.
