APD Releases Results from week five of the Downtown Weekend Operations

Units from across the department are working with officers in the Downtown Public Safety District to crack down on criminal behavior during weekends this summer.

APD released results from the fifth weekend of its Downtown Operation. Units from across the department are working with officers in the Downtown Public Safety District to crack down on criminal behavior during weekends this summer.

Here are the results of this past weekend’s operation, which lasted Friday through Sunday:

  • 90 moving citations
  • 9 cites for modified exhaust
  • 1 cites for exhibition of speed
  • 13 reports
  • 0 DWI's
  • 3 towed vehicles
  • 4 fights responded
  • 12 verbal warning
  • 6 medical transports
  • 8 Miscellaneous Arrests

Since the start of the Downtown Operation, officers have made hundreds of contacts with individuals congregating in parking lots, a known problem in the area leading up to the operations.

More than 600 moving citations have been issued since the operations induction, along with 24 DWI arrests, 40 modified exhaust citations, 20 fights, 75 reports and 34 miscellaneous arrests.

APD Traffic, SWAT and SID have assisted in these operation, providing seven-day a week coverage with a zero tolerance policy.
