APD provides update on fatal crash

APD’s Motor Unit responded to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian around 10p.m. on September 22 on Eastbound I-25 just west of Carlisle.
When officers arrived they learned that a pedestrian ran onto the interstate and was struck by a vehicle. The initial impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown onto the roadway. The pedestrian was struck by several other vehicles and died on-scene.
After drivers and witnesses were interviewed, Motor officers learned that the subject was throwing large rocks at passing vehicles prior to him running into lanes of traffic.
At this time the identity of the deceased individual is unknown. There is no evidence that excessive speed or alcohol are contributing factors for any of the drivers and no criminal charges are pending at this time.
