APD issues 131 citations during street racing an anti-crime operations
ALBUQUERQUE – APD’s DWI section issued 131 citations during two separate operations targeting street racing and host spots on Albuquerque’s West Side.
Anti-Street Racing Operation
The DWI Section's Team 3 Motor Units conducted an Anti-Street Racing Operation from 11 p.m. on Friday to 2 a.m. on Saturday. During the citywide operation, 39 total citations were issued including two for street racing; Three street Racing events were disrupted and one Call for Service was taken.
Northwest Hot Spots
The DWI Section conducted an operation on Saturday along Coors Blvd between Paseo Del Norte and Western Trail. The reason this area of Coors was selected is due to it having several hot spots for crime. Officers were in the area conducting high-visibility traffic stops for two hours. During this time they conducted 40 traffic stops issuing 92 citations, and DWI Police Service Aides issued 2 handicap citations.
