APD investigating Tuesday shooting as justifiable homicide
ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives are investigating Tuesday’s fatal shooting in the San Jose neighborhood as a possible justifiable homicide.
Officers were dispatched Tuesday shortly after 8:30 p.m. to the area of 455 Alamo Ave SE. to investigate a call about a suspicious person in the area. Officers located a deceased male in the street.
Detectives determined through a preliminary investigation that the deceased male was shot in the area of 440 Salazar Ct., S.E. Detectives learned that the shooter, identified as a caretaker for elderly residents at the home, noticed a possible intruder enter the back yard of the home. The caretaker fired a weapon, which struck the man in the yard.
Detectives are investigating the shooting as a possible case of self-defense. The investigation is on-going.
