APD detectives arrest man for homicide at Valley Park

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives arrested Christopher Martinez for the May 18, 2023, murder of Lincoln McKenna at the Valley Neighborhood Park, located at 4000 San Isidro St., N.W.

Martinez, 39, is accused of deliberately crashing his Ford Ranger truck into McKenna, 49, who was on a bicycle heading westbound on Valley Pool Rd. Martinez fled the area in his truck.

A female witness who knew both men said she was with Martinez prior to the incident, and Martinez accused her of having a relationship with McKenna, who was her nextdoor neighbor. She asked to be taken home, but Martinez drove past her home toward the park. She called Mckenna who arrived on a bicycle and confronted Martinez and they two men got into an argument.

As the female and McKenna walked away from Martinez, along the edge of the park, Martinez drove away. Martinez then turned his truck around and headed westbound and struck McKenna with the truck. McKenna was transported to the hospital and later died as a result of his injuries.

McKenna was arrested and charged for the incident.
