APD cites individuals at Senate offices in Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE – The Albuquerque Police Department escorted nine people from the Albuquerque offices of U.S. Sen. Ben Ray Lujan and U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich this evening after they refused to voluntarily leave the buildings, which were closed for the day.
Police officers worked with protest organizers to try to get them to leave the offices voluntarily. Five protestors at Sen. Lujan’s office, located at 500 Marquette Ave., N.W., agreed to leave with officers and receive criminal trespass notifications and citations for criminal trespass.
Later, protestors at Sen. Heinrich’s office, located at 400 Gold Ave., S.W., also agreed to leave with officers. They also received criminal trespass notifications and citations for criminal trespass.
All nine protestors were walked out of the buildings. No force was used and nobody was placed in handcuffs.
