APD charged 70 offenders with firearm related offenses during the month of March
ALBUQUERQUE – During the month of March, the Albuquerque Police Department charged 70 individuals with firearm related offenses, and recovered 86 firearms.
Of the 70 people charged last month, 24 were considered felons, and nine of those charged were out of jail on pretrial release.
“These statistics are a clear indicator that criminals in our community continue to get their hands on firearms, and are continuing to re-offend,” said Chief Harold Medina. “34% of the people our officers arrested last month were felons, which is why we have put such an emphasis on holding these individuals accountable.”
28 of the 70 people arrested had previous firearm related offenses on their records and 7 were on probation or parole.
