APD Arrests Offender Following Multiple Stabbings

ALBUQUERQUE – The Albuquerque Police Department has arrested a man following a stabbing incident on a Rail Runner train this afternoon.

During a train ride this afternoon a male passenger was making passengers uneasy by his behavior. At some point he wanted to get off the train and as security attempted to escort him off the train at the Montano Transit Center, he stabbed a security guard. The offender then proceeded to stab a female passenger and then slashed another female passenger on her shoulder.

Two of the individuals stabbed have been transported to the hospital, one is in critical condition, the other is category two. The third individual had family take her to seek medical attention.

Shortly after, officers were able to get the offender in custody.

UPDATE: The offender has been identified as Luis Sanchez, 32.
