APD arrests fifth and final suspect in 2022 shooting death of Academy student
ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives have arrested the fifth suspect connected to the December 2022 shooting death of Albuquerque Academy student Jada Gonzales at a West Side house party.
Investigative detectives worked with officers in the Northwest Area Command to successfully apprehend Jese Barrios 19, at a home on Copper Mountain Trail N.W.
Barrios was among a group of five males who brought guns to a house party on December 17, 2022 and were subsequently kicked out. After being removed from the gathering, shots were fired into the home, one round striking 18 year-old Jada Gonzales, who died from her injuries.
Barrios has been charged with an open count of Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Shooting at Dwelling or Occupied Building (death), Conspiracy to commit Shooting at a dwelling or Occupied Building (death), Shooting at or from a Motor Vehicle (death), Conspiracy to Shoot at or from a Motor Vehicle (death), and Tampering with Evidence.
Four other teens, Jesse Parra, Cruz Medina, Isaiah Espinoza, and Julian Prieb were arrested in 2023 in connection to the homicide.
