Family Story
Marteese Patterson, 26, was a man who could light up a room with just a smile and had the heart of a lion. Patterson was a former Duke City Gladiator — he wore number 71 and was an offensive lineman during the 2021 season. He was more than a phenomenal football player, he was a son, a brother, a loved family member, and a great friend to many. He had an energy that was larger than life. At 6’5” he was a gentle giant despite being a rough and tough indoor football player. He played collegiate football at Purdue and Tuskegee. His athletic performance at Tuskegee garnered him to be named to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference team and was a preseason All-American leading into 2019. He aspired to play in the NFL. He participated at various community events including an anti-bullying event at Washington Middle School alongside his Gladiator colleagues and teammates.
He was raised in Columbus, Ohio, and was the man of the house at a young age after the loss of his father. His goal was to work with at-risk youth. Always a Gladiator.
