Shelter Pets Need Presents Too

Countdown to collect comfort gifts for “Operation Silent Night” starts now
December 13, 2024

ALBUQUERQUE – Celebrate the season of giving by bringing comfort and joy to pets in shelters. There are only 19 days left for “Operation Silent Night”, a City program managed through the Animal Welfare Department.

The Operation Silent Night wish list for cats and dogs includes small cat toys, treats, beds, brushes, wand toys, scratchers, blankets, towels, dog enrichment toys, collars, harnesses, pill pockets, and Kong’s toys. You can help by fulfilling their wish list as they spend their holidays at Animal Welfare shelters.

“This season generates a lot of generosity in Burqueños, as we’re all getting our gift lists together let’s remember our city’s shelter pets,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “A toy or blanket can bring a lot of joy while they’re waiting to find forever homes.”

Donations will be accepted through December 31. Members of the public can drop off their donations at the Animal Welfare Department shelters and at participating small businesses throughout the city. For a listing of drop-off locations, go to www.cabq.gov/pets.
