Operation Silent Night Collects Comfort Gifts for Shelter Animals
Celebrate the season of giving by helping the Animal Welfare Department increase the comfort of shelter animals in City shelters. The wish list for cats and dogs includes small cat toys, treats, beds, brushes, wand toys, scratchers, sweaters, jackets, blankets, towels, dog enrichment toys, collars, harnesses, pill pockets, and Kong’s toys. Please help them by fulfilling their wish list as they spend their holidays at Animal Welfare shelters while waiting to find forever homes.
“Donating comfort gifts will help keep our shelter pets from developing depression, loneliness or boredom as they await adoption” said Carolyn Ortega, Director of Animal Welfare Department. “Thank you for making the holiday a little brighter for all our shelter pets in need.”
Donations will be accepted through December 31. Members of the public can drop off their donations at the Animal Welfare Department shelters and at participating small businesses throughout the city. For a listing of drop-off locations, please see below.
“This is an opportunity for each of us to make a positive impact on a shelter pet’s life,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This holiday season, choose to create happiness and comfort by donating to the wish list.”
