Animal Welfare Department is offering FREE Microchipping and Custom Pet Tags
In ongoing efforts to provide accessible services to every Albuquerque citizen and promote responsible pet ownership, Animal Welfare Department (AWD) will continue to offer FREE microchipping and pet tags for dogs and cats through July 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Westside and Eastside shelters. No appointment is needed.
You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid ID to microchip your pets. The microchip will be registered to the ID holder. Information you provide at the time of microchipping will be the guide to finding you if the animal is ever lost or recovered.
It is essential to ensure that the details linked to your pet’s microchip remain up-to-date so the pet can be successfully identified. AWD’s shelter provides all-year-round free service to update pet owners microchips.
Having the combination of microchips and ID tags is the best solution for keeping your pet safe if they become lost. If you haven’t already done so, take care of these simple measures today to prevent a tragedy of not reuniting with your pet.
