Description
The Animal Welfare Department (AWD) is partnering with NBCUniversal National Adoption Weekend, Saturday, August 26 through Sunday, August 27, at the Eastside and Westside shelters, and Lucky Paws located in Coronado Mall.
People will be able to meet the pets and talk to an adoption councilor to get assistance in finding the pet that will fit their family. The adoption fee is waived for all pets. Each adoption will include spay or neuter, a microchip, required vaccinations, and one free initial vet visit. For dogs, you will receive one free dog training class. On every adoption, you will receive a gift bag from Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
“This adoption event could not have come at a better time and we are so appreciative of NBCUniversal, Telemundo and Hill’s Pet Nutrition support,” said Carolyn Ortega, Director of Animal Welfare Department. “By adopting this weekend, you’re not only giving a pet a home, but helping keep other pet families together.”
This is the ninth consecutive year NBC and Telemundo owned stations are partnering with affiliate stations and animal shelters and rescues to promote pet adoption and raise funds for animal welfare. Since its inception in 2015, Clear the Shelters has helped more than 860,000 pets find new homes.
