Revised Parental Code of Conduct for the Aquatics Division Metro League program.

City of Albuquerque

Metro League Parent Code of Conduct

As a parent and role model, it is essential to encourage and motivate young athletes by setting a positive example. Demonstrating respect, maturity, and effective communication can significantly influence young athletes in becoming well-rounded individuals. By adhering to the guidelines outlined below, you help us maintain a positive and supportive environment for all participants. Please read and sign this document to acknowledge your commitment. Failure to comply with any of the listed rules and guidelines may result in the disqualification of your child or the loss of their privilege to participate in the league.

  1. Youth Participation: I acknowledge that children participate in sports for enjoyment, and the focus of the game should be on their development and fun, not on adult interests or desires.
  2. Health and Safety: I will promptly inform the coach of any physical disabilities or conditions that may affect my child's safety or the safety of others.
  3. Knowledge of Rules: I will familiarize myself with the rules of the game and the policies of the league. Additionally, I will adhere to the rules of any facilities my child and their team may visit for swim, dive, or water polo events.
  4. Eligibility Requirements: I will ensure that my child meets the age and experience eligibility requirements before committing to the City of Albuquerque Metro League. This includes confirming that they have not participated in any club or high school teams (swim, dive, or water polo) after April 1st of the current league year or attended high school.
  5. Age Limitations: I understand that my child will be ineligible to participate in the City of Albuquerque Metro League if they turn 15 years old before the Metro District Swim Meet or the first day of the Water Polo Championships.
  6. Respectful Conduct: I (and my guests) will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coordinator, official, coach, player, parent, or aquatic staff. This includes but is not limited to booing, taunting, refusal to shake hands, using profane language or gestures, or making derogatory or malicious remarks.
  7. Safety and Well-being: I will not encourage, or participate in, any behavior or practices that could jeopardize the health or well-being of any athlete, coach, referee or spectator.
  8. Respecting Coaching Boundaries: I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during practices, meets, or games.
  9. Promoting Athlete Well-being: I will prioritize the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes above any personal desires for my child to win.
  10. Addressing Concerns: Should any concerns arise (regarding eligibility, coaching, practices, officiating, etc.), I will address them with the swim, water polo, or dive coach at the earliest opportunity to allow sufficient time for a thoughtful and collaborative solution.
  1. 3rd parties: I understand that any photo, apparel, or monetary service organized by a third party is not affiliated with the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department, Aquatics division Metro League Program. The city is not liable for any of the aforementioned services being rendered or the failure to be rendered.
