Description
This elementary-aged youth program at the Open Space Visitor Center includes hiking and outdoor exploration, hands-on science, literacy, and art activities. Program is offered once-every-other-month during the school year. Youth should be prepared to have fun exploring the outdoors!
All About Adaptations: This elementary-aged youth program celebrates the unique features of animals and plants. Students will begin by transforming into seven different birds as they learn about structural adaptations. Next, a short, half mile hike around the Open Space Visitor Center wetlands will let students change their behaviors as migrating/hibernating creatures. Finally, camp will end with a literacy and art activity where students use the physiological adaptation of chameleons to hide around the Open Space Visitor Center patio.
Tuition is $10 for the three-hour camp, registration is required at play.cabq.gov (Open Space → Public Programs → Youth Programs → Saturday Explorer Camp)
