4. Jan Beck: Raven’s Crossing Studio Jan has been an artist since she was a child. Drawing and painting have always been part of her life. She recently retired from teaching special education and art. She has a particular passion for animals and is lucky enough to live in an area of Juniper, Pinon, and Cedar trees which are home to multitudes of birds, wandering coyotes, elusive bobcats, and an occasional bear all of which become her inspiration. Her art is created using alcohol inks on pages of old National Geographics treated with Citrasolv and collaged together.

5. Dawn E. Schichtel: Dawn E. Schichtel is an illustrator, artist and designer, living and creating in New Mexico for the past 40 years. Her design studio, D.E.S.ign is located in Albuquerque. When not working on projects with clients, gallery shows or installations, you can find her creating on her land in the Southern part of this beautiful state. Prior to coming to New Mexico, her schooling, studios and clients were based in New York City and New Jersey.

6. Ruth Carraway: Ruth’s work is inspired by her relationship to Nature. Using pieces of trees found in the Forest, she works with clay to allow the Spirit of the Tree to emerge. The “Awen” or inspiration for creating the Tree spirit sculptures came to her through a dream — a dream where there were talking faces on the trees. They spoke to her of helping teach people how to honor Nature and appreciate trees. She was instructed to make art using the trees as inspiration. This Artwork has become a quest to honor the trees and to seek harmony with the earth and to share with others the message of the trees. She loves the spontaneity of working with the wood gathered from walks in the forest. In her studio, guided by the Energy of the Tree spirit, she adds polymer and paper clay to the wood. The completed sculpture is created by combining her artistic skill with the clay and the energy of
the tree. The sculptures appear to be uniquely alive, graceful, and whimsical as the Tree spirits emerge into the outer world
