Description

Come explore an easy, new hobby with the Open Space Division as we talk about birding! Learn how to identify common species and the best locations around the city to spot our feathered friends. Not only will you get the chance to practice binocular and field guide use during the classroom session, but the second session offers a ~1 mile guided walk that will include experts from the Bird Alliance of Central New Mexico helping participants practice their new skills.

Part 1 (classroom): 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Open Space Visitor Center

Part 2 (field): 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Aug. 23 at the Candelaria Nature Preserve

Free, but registration required at play.cabq.gov. (Open Space → Public Programs → Adult Programs → Intro to the Outdoors)
