Wells Park - Walker Property

Imagining the future of the Walker Property

This project is designed to help the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department develop a community-based vision for the redevelopment of the "Walker Property" in Wells Park.

After the community engagement process was completed in June of 2022, construction plans were developed and below is the schematic of the final park plans. Additional Project Information

Image of the Wells Park project schematic.

A wide walkway flanked by swinging benches, shade canopies, and plantings connects the existing community center, lawn, stage, splashpad, and basketball courts to new park elements constructed to the north on the site of the Walker Property. Anchoring the new park elements is a large playground with climbing towers, slides, and swings. The playground is surrounded by other new park elements including large- and small-breed dog parks along Summer at the north, multi-functional courts along 6th Street, and a picnic area featuring a lawn, a shelter, and dedicated food truck parking lane near the entrance at 5th and Rosemont.
