El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail
The City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, the National Park Service, and The University of New Mexico have partnered to provide a conceptual plan that outlines a vision for the development of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail within Bernalillo County. The plan will include ideas for preservation and public use of the historic trail routes. The projects that will be identified within the plan are intended to contribute towards tourism, economic development, and cultural preservation.
The plan will include ideas for preservation and public use of the historic trail. The projects identified within the plan are intended to contribute towards tourism, economic development, and cultural preservation.
An important goal of the plan is to provide communities along this historic route a way to tell their own stories and share elements of their history and culture that will make the visitor experience more comprehensive, authentic, and meaningful.
Currently in the early stages of the project, we are looking to you, the public, to provide input on two important elements:
- The identification of sites located along the historic route that could be developed for the public to visit, experience, and learn about the National Historic Trail.
- The identification of preferred routes for a multi-modal trail following the historic routes.
