2024 Hispanic Heritage Month Events Throughout the City

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month throughout the City of Albuquerque. Though Hispanic Heritage Month is officially from September 15 through October 15, you can find events to celebrate starting as early as September 5. Below is a list of different Hispanic Heritage Month events happing around the City of Albuquerque in 2024.

La Cultura Speaks

  • About: La Cultura Speaks is a campaign by the City of Albuquerque Department of Arts & Culture. Our goal is to celebrate the richness and diversity of Hispanic culture in Albuquerque through stories of youth and their family legacies. Through stories we hope to honor, understand and build connections across our city.

Instituto Cervantes Film Series: Generaciones and El paìs del futuro

  • About: In this online film series, which plays throughout the month of September on the Instituto Cervantes Vimeo channel, there will be four sessions with experimental pieces that allow us to explore the possibilities of the audio-visual image and abstraction as a form of creation: a freer creation, where form, color, movement and sound compose evocative messages. The short films will be available on the Cervantes Institute's Vimeo channel for one week.

Hispanic Heritage Month Kick Off

  • About: An event to kick-off Hispanic Heritage Month 2024! The theme for Hispanic Heritage Month in 2024 is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together”. This theme is meant to capture the “spirit of innovation, resilience, and unity that define the Hispanic experience”. This is a free event for the whole family with performances by mariachis and more!

New Mexico State Fair Parade

  • About: The New Mexico State Fair Parade, long established as the biggest parade in the state, marshaled and assisted by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Posse, is open to participation by anyone.

Camino Real: Hispanic Heritage Softball Tournament & Cultural Festival

  • About: Inaugural Camino Real Hispanic Heritage Softball Tournament and Cultural Festival, celebrating the start of Hispanic Heritage Month!
    This fun, family-friendly event will be held at the beautifully renovated Los Altos Park Softball Complex. Free Admission! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy live performances from local and regional artists and explore booths featuring local artisans and vendors showcasing unique crafts.

4th Annual En Unidad Hay Poder, Dia de Los Muertos Artisan and Farmers Market

  • About: The Artisan and Farmer's Market features local vendors with handmade products. Local artists and artisans will have artwork for sale.  Come sample the wares of Food truck vendors and listen to live musical artists like Gilbert Uribe and Mariachi Albuquerque. “En Unidad Hay Poder” Celebration will feature Longfellow ECS student’s artwork in the offenda.  Local students will also perform baile folklorico and flamenco artforms.

Corazon de Cultura Award

  • About: Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Día de los Muertos

  • About: A 9-day event that that will include "Family Day", a Catrina Parade, the Dance of the Matachines, a candlelight procession, paper-mache sculptures, community ofrenda, classic car and truck shows, ofrenda tours, and more!

South Velley Muertos and Marigold - Procession & Celebration
