Green Vehicle Permits
In order to ensure that the Green Vehicle Permits are distributed in an equitable manner to Green Vehicle Owners and to ensure that high density developments within the area do not overwhelm the available on street parking meters, the following criteria has been established for issuing Green Vehicle Parking permits:
- Green Vehicle parking permits will only be issued to owners of qualifying vehicles that are currently registered in the state of New Mexico with current valid driver’s license.
- To qualify for a permit, a vehicle must obtain a total combined Greenhouse Gas and Smog score of 16 or higher with the minimum Greenhouse score of 9.
- A maximum of 1 permit will be issued for any qualifying vehicle in a calendar year. The permits will expire on the last day of December each calendar year.
- A Green Vehicle shall not park in an on street space regulated by a meter for more than two hours. After the unpaid two-hour timeframe has expired, the vehicle cannot park within a one block radius of that parking space without payment for 24 hours.
- A non-refundable $29.00 annual fee is required for a Green Vehicle Permit and can be paid in cash, credit/debit at the time of application at the parking office. No checks will be accepted.
- Abuse and/or violations of the green vehicle or abuse of the 2 hour time limits could result in the revocation of the permit for the remainder of the current permit year and the next subsequent year, as determined by the Department of Municipal Development.
