Statement: Albuquerque Moves to Redevelop University Area
Plan outlines revitalization strategies, including housing and quality of life efforts.

Tonight, the University Area Metropolitan Redevelopment Plan passed City Council with a 9-0 vote.
“The City’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency promotes economic investment and healthy and vibrant communities in areas in need across our city,” said Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency Director Terry Brunner. “The City Council’s support for our University Area Plan means we can pursue catalytic projects and redevelopment strategies that span from commercial redevelopment to diversified housing. This is an important first step towards revitalizing the areas around UNM.”
