Nov. 27, 2024 Community Hall Newsletter
Greetings Albuquerque,
I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve our city and to work along side the community everyday. To our volunteers, community leaders, neighbors, and city workers—thank you for your dedication and hard work to make our city a wonderful place to live and work. I appreciate all the ways Burqueños show up for each other, day in and day out.
This week, we opened the Medical Sobering Center, a new service at the Gateway Center, to provide treatment for people with substance use disorder to gain sobriety and connect to resources. The Sobering Center will serve up to 50 people at a time and up to 18,250 people annually, filling a critical need in our city. I’m grateful for the support of our partners and the community to make this project possible, and for all the ways we’re working together to get more folks on a path to stability and housing.
As we give thanks this week, we also recognize this time of year can be extremely challenging for many. I encourage you to join us in supporting the most vulnerable in Albuquerque. Consider volunteering, with the City or our partner organizations, where your time and support can make a real difference, or donate new or gently used coats, jackets, gloves, and beanies for our first responders to distribute to those in need. If you or someone you know needs help, please call 311, and our team can connect you to help.
When we come together to support one another, we make our city even stronger and more compassionate. Thank you for being part of what makes Albuquerque a truly special place.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and meaningful Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Mayor Tim Keller
