Hello Albuquerque,

As we move further into the year, we continue breaking through with positive impacts for Albuquerque families, creating opportunities, and enhancing the safety of our city.

Our Health and Social Services Centers are confronting food insecurity by distributing thousands of food boxes and offering critical services like eviction prevention, emergency rental assistance, and healthcare. With grocery prices at an all-time high, we remain committed to ensuring families have the support they need to stay in their homes and put food on the table.

With so many people struggling, we’ve launched a new Office of Financial Empowerment to help provide Albuquerque residents—especially low- and moderate-income households—with the tools, education, and services needed to achieve long-term financial well-being.

In our fight against poverty, we introduced a Guaranteed Income Program, which will provide direct economic assistance to qualifying families in the International District and West Side as they build a better future for their families. This program will help close the wealth gap and create the kind of financial stability that ultimately makes our entire community stronger.

We continue working to break the cycle of homelessness. Our Gateway Network’s Better Way Forward program is actively connecting sheltered individuals to jobs with the Duke City Ambassadors clearing our city. This program provides employment and financial support, helping individuals regain stability.

On the public safety front, we’ve added more AFR firefighters to the department and welcomed more APD recruits through our Recruit Officer Basic Training program. Meanwhile, APD successfully reduced auto thefts by 7% and continues its proactive efforts to combat human trafficking, partnering with local organizations to support victims and hold offenders accountable. We are holding problem properties accountable, and closed Bow and Arrow Lodge, which has become a hotspot for crime.

As spring continues, we’re making progress toward a stronger Albuquerque. Thank you for being part of our community as we work together for a better future.

Sincerely,
Mayor Tim Keller
