June 14, 2024 Community Hall Newsletter
Hello Albuquerque,
Last month, we wrapped up our first round of Constructive Conversations, a series of community meetings to foster dialogue about ongoing City projects and development and get your input about what’s needed in your neighborhood. On behalf of myself and the City, thank you to everyone who participated in these discussions. Your input and engagement are invaluable as we continue working together to shape the future of Albuquerque.
We celebrated the opening of the new Santa Barbara Martineztown Multigenerational Center earlier this week. The community has been advocating for new facilities in the area for decades, and I’m grateful we could open the center less than a year after the groundbreaking. The opening celebration brought out people of all ages to enjoy activities, and I know the center will be used and loved for generations.
The Albuquerque Community Safety department’s new headquarters is now open, too! ACS responds to 911 and 311 calls related to mental health, substance use, and homelessness. Their new building will allow the department to grow and better serve our city. The community is welcome to an opening celebration on June 29.
We also purchased the old San Mateo Inn to be the site of our forthcoming Young Adult Housing Navigation Center. The hotel will be renovated to provide age-appropriate wraparound services to help young adults access permanent housing and become self-sufficient. We know that we need more services in Albuquerque to get folks the help they need, and purchasing this property takes a big step forward towards bringing these services to life.
Thank you once again for your commitment and enthusiasm to bettering our city. Let’s keep working together to make our visions for Albuquerque a reality.
Sincerely,
Mayor Tim Keller
