Mayor Tim Keller Opens Westside Emergency Housing Center Early In Preparation for Below Freezing Temperatures

Mayor Tim Keller along with the Department of Family and Community Services and Heading Home announced the early opening of the Westside Emergency Housing Center. Originally scheduled to open on November 15th, Mayor Tim Keller made the decision to open the doors prior to the below freezing temperatures that are expected to overtake the City tonight. 

“Winter weather struck Albuquerque early this year and we want to make sure that folks have a warm, safe place to go,” stated Mayor Tim Keller.  “We have assembled our team to make sure that we can get people out of the cold weather and into the shelter.”

People experiencing homelessness may utilize the Westside Emergency Housing Center and its services. The shelter will serve single men, single women and families with children.

Pick-up and Drop-off Location and Times:

  • Location: Coronado Park (301 McKnight Ave NW)
  • Pick-up: Every evening at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m.
  • Drop-off: First bus arrives back at Coronado Park near 7 a.m.

The Department of Family and Community Services provides quality health and social services, housing, recreation and education to improve the quality of life for the entire Albuquerque community.
