Mayor Tim Keller and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency Announces Request for Proposals for a Downtown Mixed-Use Project
October 30, 2018
The City of Albuquerque through its Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to partner with a Master Developer to bring a new mixed-use project, including an entertainment venue that will bring people together in the downtown area. The entertainment amenity will be a point of place-making, bringing together residents and tourists to add to the current excitement and energy in Downtown Albuquerque.
The site being offered encompasses an entire city block, approximately 2.05 acres, located at 400 4th Street NW, which sits between 3rd and 4th Streets and Marquette and Roma, near the Convention Center, Albuquerque Bernalillo County Government Center, and Civic Plaza.
In the spirit of One Albuquerque, Mayor Tim Keller is asking for all ideas to be brought to the table, “The measure of any great city is the degree to which people and places are connected, so we need the creativity from those in our community to create that place in Downtown Albuquerque.”
MRA Manager, Karen Iverson explains, “We are continuing the downtown revitalization efforts, by transforming a pivotal piece of property to a source of economic and cultural growth.”
An Ad Hoc Selection Committee will review the proposals and make recommendations to the Albuquerque Development Commission (ADC) for the final selection of a private developer. This public-private partnership between the City and developer will create a catalytic project bringing life to what is now a surface parking lot, by supporting economic and pedestrian activity.
Applicants must submit their detailed proposals to the City Project Manager, Matthew Butkus, during regular business hours by April 29, 2019 at 3:00pm MST, to the City Planning Department at 600 2nd Street NW, 3rd floor, Plaza del Sol, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87102. Any late submissions will not be accepted.
