Mayor Keller Issues Statement on New CDC and DOH Mask Guidelines

“For over a year, Burqueños stepped up to keep our community safe. And in the past months, hundreds of thousands in our community have taken the most significant action in their power to beat this virus: getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Now with the latest public health guidance, those who are fully vaccinated can safely take off their masks in many settings. I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to seeing the smiles of friends and neighbors across our city again.

“While we can all see the progress we are making, we know this virus is not defeated. Businesses, event spaces, and workplaces may still hold their own mask policies to protect their staff and patrons and it’s important that we respect those requirements. It's best to keep our masks on-hand and be cognizant of our surroundings.”
