City of Albuquerque Recognized as one of Nation’s Healthiest Workplaces

Highest designation from Wellness Council of America Awarded to City.

July 13, 2022

The City of Albuquerque has been certified as a Platinum Well Workplace by the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) as one of the nation’s healthiest workplaces in 2022.  This award recognizes that the City has made an organizational commitment to health promotion.  The “Platinum” status demonstrates that the City implements a comprehensive program that is strategic and integral to the organization and its employees’ well-being.

“In Albuquerque, we are committed to promoting health and well-being everywhere, including within our own teams,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “From nutrition, exercise, and smoking cessation programs, our expanding wellness campaigns help folks stay healthy and happy and provide better services for the people of Albuquerque as a result. I want to thank our employee Wellness Ambassadors who are leading in their workplaces each day.”

The City of Albuquerque promotes health and wellness throughout the organization, focusing on preventative care and healthy habits, as well as through great medical benefits. More information about the City’s award-winning BetterHealth Worksite Program can be found here.

In Well Workplace Award-winning organizations like CABQ, the vision of protecting and enhancing the health and well-being of every employee becomes part of the organization’s very fabric – not something extraneous and peripheral to the core business functions.

WELCOA reviewed the City of Albuquerque’s workplace on seven benchmark characteristics. You can read more about their criteria here.
