City Launches “One ABQ & You” Podcast
Today, the City of Albuquerque announces the launch of 'One ABQ & You: Conversations, Culture & Community,' a podcast featuring Mayor Tim Keller and co-host Leah Black.
The podcast will offer freeform interviews with guests that include community leaders, artists, businesspeople, sports figures, chefs and musicians. A broad spectrum of topics is covered; from current events and future outlooks to revisiting the Duke City’s colorful history, all the while celebrating personal stories and “bright spots” in the community.
“This is a celebration of the city we love, and the people and places that make it special,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We have so many great stories to tell here in Albuquerque, and this platform allows us to get beyond the condensed headline or soundbite, and have a real conversation.”
The podcast premiers on Thursday, November 30th, 2023, with the simultaneous launch of the first two episodes. Episode 1 is a “Welcome” introduction with Mayor Keller and Leah Black. Black is current employee of Albuquerque International Sunport with a background in local radio. Episode 2 features Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Matthew Whelan, the personal story that brought him to Albuquerque, and a discussion of what makes this special city “home” to him.
Future guests include Boxer Josh “Pitbull” Torres, entrepreneur/occupational therapist Victoria Van Dame, filmmaker Richard Farmer, Flamenco dancer/teacher Eva Enciñias, businessowner/architect Mark Baker and Chef Marc Quiñones.
As of November 30th, the podcasts will be released as one episode every two weeks, and available on most streaming services and on the One ABQ & You Podcast webpage.
“One ABQ & You” joins other two other City of Albuquerque podcasts already streaming. “Take Another Look” is a discussion of public art in the community, while “The ABQ Accent” focuses on the community work of local innovators and risk-takers.
