Biking in Albuquerque

The City of Albuquerque strives to be a bike-friendly community where people can bicycle for recreation and essential transportation. Albuquerque is ranked as a Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community by The League of American Bicyclists!

The City boasts over 500 miles of bikeways, including on-street bikeways such as bike lanes and off-street facilities such as paved multi-use trails. We are always looking for opportunities to enhance existing facilities and also add more. The Department of Municipal Development (DMD) manages on-street bikeways and the Parks and Recreation Department manages off-street bikeways. Other government partners such as Bernalillo County, the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), and the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA) also have different bikeway facilities that support bicycling not only within Albuquerque but our region.
