Volunteer Program
About the Volunteer Program
The Department of Health, Housing, and Homelessness volunteer program provides compassionate support to individuals experiencing homelessness who are currently housed at one of our city-sponsored shelters, including Gateway West, Family Housing Navigation Center, or Gateway Center. Through their dedicated efforts, volunteers play a crucial role in alleviating homelessness and creating positive impacts in the lives of those seeking assistance.

FY24 Volunteer Program Report
A new report reveals the impact of our volunteer program in its first year of service.
The Health, Housing, and Homelessness volunteer program was launched in November of FY24. During this eight-month period, we had 105 events, 351 volunteers, and 1216 volunteer hours, with an impact value of $32,771.
This includes events such as building beds and under-storage as part of our renovation efforts at Gateway West (formerly the Westside Emergency Housing Center).
