Gateway West
Men, Women, and Couples Welcome
Gateway West, located at 7440 Jim McDowell NW, is the City’s largest shelter and serves an average of 600 people per night, with cold winter nights bringing in more than 700 people.
The shelter offers a safe and welcoming environment to men and women experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque.
The center is open year-round, offering meals, a warm bed, and secure under-bed storage.
Shuttle service is provided daily.
Big Changes at Gateway West
Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) has officially transitioned into its new role operator of Gateway West.
The regionally-based provider says as the new Operator, they are incorporating their values including prioritizing pathways to housing, and a belief that everyone deserves to live a meaningful life with dignity.
In addition to managing operations at Gateway West, CPLC is beginning to offer case management for residents up to 59 years old.
Sierra Health Care is currently providing case management services to senior citizens.
Renovated Dorms
The City of Albuquerque is renovating all dorms at Gateway West, including new beds, secure under-bed storage, and laundry services.
