Get Ready to Spring Into Summer!

Event returns to new location, Barelas Community Center & Park to get families connected to summer resources
April 22, 2024

Albuquerque’s annual Spring into Summer event will return on Saturday April 27, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Barelas Community Center & Park  to celebrate the return of warm  weather and help families gear up for summer. This free, family-friendly event will feature music, food trucks, games, and helpful information about the City of Albuquerque’s summer youth programs. There  will also be family friendly adoptable pets from Animal Welfare.

“Every year we look forward to seeing our community out enjoying the weather and learning about youth and family programs across the city,” said Cristin Chavez-Smith, leader of One ABQ: YouthConnect. “It is key  that our kids have safe places to grow and play, and we are here to help everyone  find a program that meets their needs.”

“Having a variety of affordable, fun summer programs is so important to our Albuquerque families,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Keeping our youth engaged while they are out of school is important to their safety and well-being, and we look forward to another summer of fun and learning at our City facilities.”

As the weather warms up and parents begin to prepare for summer, the City is here to support families and ensure that kids of all ages have safe options for out-of-school time. City departments in attendance will include Aquatics, Bank on Burque, Open Space, Parks & Recreation, Senior Affairs, Summer Lunch Programs,  Youth & Family Services,  and more.

The City of Albuquerque provides full-day free or low-cost summer programs at  17 community centers, 2 multi-generational centers, select APS locations, and the Open Space Visitor’s center. Partial day camps and classes also take place at the BioPark, Albuquerque Museum, Explora, recreation facilities, and libraries.

Programs serve youth of all ages. See the full list of summer youth activities, registration dates, and information about the event at cabq.gov/summer.
