Mark DiMenna, Deputy Director of Environmental Health
Mark DiMenna holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a specialization in vector-borne disease ecology. His undergraduate degree is a B.Sc. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.
Dr. DiMenna has worked extensively in vector-borne and zoonotic disease research, surveillance and prevention in New Mexico since 2000. He has conducted mosquito collection and identification for West Nile virus surveillance throughout the state, and led numerous investigations into cases of plague, tularemia and West Nile virus in humans. He has worked for the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department since 2005.
