Shop Small, Love Local
As Small Business Saturday and Buy Local Month get closer, the City and leaders from community groups throughout Albuquerque came together to highlight holiday shopping events taking place all over town. Albuquerque is home to over 40,000 small businesses that enrich the city and are a key part of the local economy. The holiday season is an important time for many businesses and serves as a great reminder to everyone to spend money locally and support our small business economy. Along with the shopping events, there will be live music at locations throughout the city.
”This is an exciting time of year for many small businesses in Albuquerque, and there are so many different ways to support local creators during this time,” said David Stroud and Arlene Armijo, Co-Owners of New Nuevo. “We’re happy to see this organized, collective effort to shine an even bigger light on what’s going on all across our city.
“Small businesses are the heartbeat of our local economy. With targeted resources for entrepreneurs and dedicated staff focused solely on small businesses, we’re invested in their success,” said Terry Brunner, Interim Director of Economic Development. “We look forward to showing up to support them this holiday season.”
“Albuquerque is open for business this holiday season. There are a lot of fun things going on all over our city, and tons of opportunities to keep money local and support the businesses that make this place special,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Helping small businesses be successful is a key part of our work, and we’re committed to stepping up for them year-round and especially during this important time.”
To keep things accessible and encourage folks to come out, parking will be free on City meters along Central from 8th to Carlisle and in the Old Town parking lot from November 25 through January 2.
