Case Outcomes

The CPOA will share their investigative findings with the complainant after the completion of investigation. These findings are redacted and made public and can be found on CPOA Finding Letters. If the Office of Police Reform does not agree with the CPOA’s recommended findings, they will write a Letter of Non-Concurrence within 30 days. If the complainant does not agree with the CPOA’s recommended findings, they may file a request to appeal those findings within 30 days and appear before the CPOAB at their next scheduled meeting. Following their presentation, the CPOAB will provide a Notice of Decision to the complainant, which may be found, redacted, in CPOAB Appeal Finding Letters.

The CPOA is also charged with auditing a representative sample of all Level 2 and Level 3 use of force incidents and all matters investigated by APD’s Internal Affairs (IA). The CPOA finding letters for Level 3 use of force incidents can be found under Officer Involved Shooting Finding Letters and Use of Force Finding Letters.
