Councilor Fiebelkorn Presents Proclamation Recognizing National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
At tonight’s City Council Meeting, City Councilor Tammy Fiebelkorn, District 7, presented a proclamation to the City of Albuquerque’s Animal Welfare Department recognizing November 5 -11, 2023, as National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. The City Council commends every Animal Welfare Department employee for their service and commitment to the animal welfare profession and asks all citizens, public safety, health, and public service personnel to join in expressing gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding service that the animal shelter employees provide throughout the year.
“We wanted to honor Animal Welfare’s dedicated employees for their work in encouraging responsible guardianship of companion animals, for caring for missing, abused, and homeless animals, celebrating the human-animal bond through quality adoption and education, and for assuring public health and safety for our community,” said Councilor Fiebelkorn.
The Humane Society of the United States has designated the first week of November each year as National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. The City Council took this opportunity to recognize, thank, and commend the employees at the City animal shelters for the dedicated service they provide to the citizens of Albuquerque and the various public safety and public services agencies throughout the city.
