Unhoused Youth Campus

Since taking office, Councilor Fiebelkorn has prioritized the creation of shelter for unhoused youth aged 18 – 25. Working closely with Councilors Grout and Bassan, Councilor Fiebelkorn has spearheaded this project and raised the funds needed to create a youth campus for unhoused youth.

In 2024, a building for this Unhoused Youth Housing Campus at 2424 San Mateo Blvd NE in District 7. The building is in the planning and abatement phase. The layout is in design and a Request for Proposal will be issued soon for a contracted service provider.

Project Funding

Councilor Fiebelkorn, with the aid of other city councilors, appropriated $7 million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds to initiate this project and worked with state and federal legislators to obtain additional funding. The City has been awarded $1.5m in funds from the Congressional Delegation, thanks to the work by Representative Stansbury and Senator Ben Ray Luján. State Capital Outlay funding for this project was generously provided by Representatives Janelle Anyanonu, Gail Chasey, Eleanor Chávez, Meredith Dixon, Natalie Figueroa, Miguel Garcia, Yanira Gurrola, Pamelya Herndon, Dayan Hochman-Vigil, Charlotte Little, Miriam Matthews, Christina Parajón, Andrea Romero, Patricia A. Roybal Caballero, and Christine Trujillo and Senators, Martin Hickey, Daniel Ivey-Soto, Linda Lopez, Antonio “Moe” Maestas, Brenda McKenna, Gerald Ortiz y Pino, Michael Padilla, Antionette Sedillo Lopez, Mimi Stewart, Elizabeth “Liz” Thompson, and Bill Tallman. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham also contributed funds.
