City Councilor Nichole L. Rogers Launches Participatory Budgeting Project Expo and Voting Kick-Off
ALBUQUERQUE – The Albuquerque City Council District 6 Participatory Budgeting (PBABQ) initiative launched the voting stage of its project selection process. The voting launch started with a Project Expo held at the International District Library on March 29, 2025.
District 6 project teams presented their projects to the community in hopes that their projects will be funded. The PBABQ pilot provides community members with the opportunity to directly decide how $1.5 million of public funds will be allocated to community-driven projects.
The voting period, which runs from March 29 to April 19, 2025, features nine diverse projects developed by District 6 community members. These nine projects were selected from over 240 submissions. PBABQ started collecting ideas from community members through guided meetings and information sessions in October 2024. The nine projects for selection were developed to address capital needs within District 6.
• Transforming Vacant Land into Public Parklets ($400,000)
• First Responder Mural ($64,500)
• One Stop Respite Station ($175,575)
• 5 Blocks for Life ($1.5 million)
• Buena Vista Drive Bike Infrastructure Improvements ($1.5 million)

“This is a unique opportunity for our community to directly shape the future of District 6,” said Councilor Nichole L. Rogers, District 6. “We encourage all eligible residents to participate and make their voices heard.”
During the Project Expo, community teams presented the projects in a science fair format, allowing residents to interact, ask questions, and learn how Participatory Budgeting works before casting their votes.
